Civility Pledge

The Non-Partisan Pledge of Civility and Stewardship

We, the citizens, elected officials, and stewards of the United States of America, do solemnly pledge to practice and promote civility in all that we do, building a stronger and more prosperous nation through respect, honesty, and open engagement.

We will never bring disgrace upon our community or nation by acts of dishonesty, incivility, or cowardice. Instead, we will honor one another and the people we serve by ensuring that our words and actions—spoken or written—remain transparent, thoughtful, and rooted in mutual respect.

We will fight for the ideals and sacred trust of this nation, both alone and together, seeking common ground and solutions that uplift the whole of government. We will listen actively, participate with patience and tolerance, and foster dialogue that bridges divides.

We will revere and uphold the laws of our nation, striving to inspire in others the same reverence and respect, especially in those who might disregard them. We will quicken the public’s sense of civic duty, cultivating trust, and strengthening the relationships that bind us as one nation.

Thus, in all these ways, I pledge to pass on our community and this Nation—not diminished, but greater; not divided, but more just, more beautiful, and more united than it was entrusted to us.
